Mary Worth 3581

Congratulations to Helen Clark for finding Max even before the great tracker Greta! You were right: At the Blah Blah bench! You did it without even sniffing his leash. Deductive reasoning is a powerful tool. Or is it predictive reasoning?

Ah gee, thanks, Wanders! However, as we all know, the only reasoning necessary for a KM plot is to determine how best to take an already ludicrous story and drive it into the ground with an insufferably dull conclusion.

Congratulations, HelenClark! You not only figured out where Max would be found, you described KM’s m.o. to a T. We owe you a dozen muffins and a plate of salmon squares (made with Freda’s smoked salmon — it’s the best!).

I wonder if Saul is hoping that Eve says, “Come to me, my boy! I love you!” to him some day. That’s unlikely. He and Eve are both in totally committed relationships with their pooches, so there’s no room for humans.

I’d like to think that this plot will end Sunday, but I bet there will be ANOTHER week of running this into the ground. Mary still needs to bestow her blessing, along with some disgusting food item.

Today's BlahFace Haiku is titled

"KM's New Toddler Book: Max The Dog".

Look!
Come!
I love you!

@HelenClark--Try not to think like KM too often. Scary!

@HelenClark, congrats! Wanders, perhaps a new award is needed? The Helen Clark Predicting the Plot End Way Before KM Does?

Okay, I'm not a specialist in canine behavior, but I'm calling b.s. on today's strip. No lost dog is going to cower under a bench when he sees and hears his doting owner approaching like this.

Moy knows as much about dog behavior as she does about human behavior, which evidently ain't much.

At any rate, the ordeal has taken its toll on Max. He looks six inches shorter and about 30 pounds lighter.

Right now, I think it's 50-50 as to whether we move on from this Monday or we slog through another week.

KM at a recent story conference with her Syndicate editor:

KM: And after literally minutes of searching for Max ... THEY FIND HIM!

Editor: Captured at the pound?

KM: No.

Editor: Forced to fight to the death in a doggie fight club?

KM: No.

Editor: In the arms of his "real" owner, who has been searching for him for years?

KM: No.

Editor: Running from the ghost of Gary, who has come to finish the one job he couldn't do in life?

KM: No! They just find him by a bench!

Editor. Okay. Want some lunch?

Nance - Good advice! Thank you for talking me off the ledge!

MDMaryTed - Thank you! Wow - a special award named for me? I think Wanders might have gone for it if only I'd predicted that Max would be found under the blah blah bench instead of sitting on it. Dang - I was so close!

Scottie McW. - Will KM move on from this story on Monday? Hahahaha... Funny guy; what's the rush? I'm already seeing visions of next week's new and exciting episode: Eve, stepping out onto her patio to refill the hummingbird feeder, neglects to shut the slider door. Suddenly we hear a car backfire in the Charterstone parking lot! BAM! ...

Seriously? Dogs go into survival mode when they become lost. They will not respond to their name and have been known to run away from their owner. That is why you are always told not to chase a lost dog. They view everyone as a potential threat. I way Max would be patiently waiting at their bench.

SATURDAY
Excuse me, Saul, but how did Greta save the day? She wandered aimlessly across the grounds of Charterstone with you and Mama. She's not the Weiner Wonder Dog -- sheesh.

Monday: To celebrate, Saul and Eve take the dogs to the Mall on Fifth Street for lunch at Harry's Hot Dog Haven. Eve glances in a window at a clothing store, spies a headless mannequin wearing a suit, and freaks out. At the same time a child bursts the balloon that's tied to her wrist, prompting Max to freak out and dash off to places unknown.

Eve has one huge redeeming feature as a character in MW. She makes all the other characters seem much less irritating, and much smarter.
