Mary Worth 3588

I need to confess something: I hadn't read Mary Worth for two days when I opened this morning's strip. I had a busy weekend. I feel bad because even though I may not post everyday, I certainly understand my responsibility as the World's Biggest Fan to at least read the strip. So I can't tell you how warm and good it felt to read today's opening statement: "When Saul tells Eve that dogs can help us deal with life." It was like being welcomed home by a loyal and loving dog. It just felt so familiar and comforting to know that nothing has changed.

Well, Wanders, your perspective puts an optimistic spin on today’s MW. When I read the strip this morning, my wail of “Oh nooooooo!!!!” joined the collective voices of the other readers of this blog. I stood by a window, closed my eyes, and heard this lament: “Curses, we’re still stuck with these two bores and their mutts!”

A family member has a Russell terrier that is a trained therapy dog. Both dog and owner had a challenging and lengthy training program with many tests until Midge and her owner were certified and could be scheduled for therapy visits to institutions. There’s a lot more involved than “cheering up” patients. With KM’s customary tone deafness and laziness about research, I expect that we’ll soon see Max and Greta and their tiresome owners invading Moutainview Hospital. Grrrrr!

Okay, now this is getting downright comical. How many more days/weeks/months can Moy get away with this?

Mary Worth -- it' a strip about nothing.

When does the strip get rebranded as Mary Woof?

When Saul tells Eve that dogs can help us deal with life…

Saul: “I’ve seen dogs go into the military to help the soldiers.”
Eve: “Maybe Max and Greta can do that.”

Saul: “Greta’s exceptionally sensitive nose would make her a great bomb sniffer.”
Eve: “And Max would be invaluable in a sniper attack.”

Today's (Overwhelmingly Bored And Wild-Eyed With Sameness) Boldface Haiku is titled

"Heinz Kannibal Ketchup".

Wanders and "all my rowdy friends" are firing on all cylinders today. And Saul is looking even more gnomish than usual.

Lovely, one and all! And Nance! I can't stop chortling... Seems to me the first thing Greta and Max will need to take on is dealing with their people's turning blue/purple and the accompanying stigma Saul and Eve may face. Apparently blue people (and we're not talking Smurfs) is a real thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Fugates. Perhaps there is specialized training for dogs having to deal with this condition in people...

Hmmm... I just realized both Greta and Max are also blue/purple now. Thinking the sight of blue/purple dogs (to say nothing of their owners) might scare those they endeavor. Thanks, but no thanks, Eve and Saul. Looks like you will have to deal with your leftover trauma with more conventional means.

Sorry, that's "encounter" not "endeavor".. Think the Freudian slip came from being annoyed that these two might "endeavor" to make their dogs therapy dogs...

Remember when Saul was an old grouch who hated everyone and everything except his dog Bella? I want to know how Greta's Magic Canine Vibes turned Saul into a sentimental, cliche-spouting softie while Bella's Vibes of Doggy Evil kept him angry and hostile. Is it the difference between a dachshund and a chihuahua? We all know that Germans are laid-back, easy-going people, while Mexicans are hard-driving world conquerors, right?

Time for Saul and Eve to take up their apostolic mission and spread the Word of Dog among the sick and needy, especially those who are too incapacitated to run away. Praise be to dogs! Aren't dogs great! I like dogs! Get a dog, it's good for you! It will ease what ails you! Here, have some more dog! Dogs dogs dogs! Crikey. Karen Moy's brain has clearly suffered an invasion from the planet Dogsphere.

Didn't there used to be an annoying old lady in this strip who gave bland advice to people? Aunt Maudie or something ... ?

Patients in hospitals are suffering enough as it is. A visit from Eve and Saul might push them over the edge. They will have no choice but to listen to Eve's tale of Gary the wife tripper.

I wonder if Ms. Moy reads this fine blog, and in a passive/aggressive way, decided to keep this story going to annoy us..
Since June 2020, Saul has dominated this strip (with a guest appearance from Tommy & Brandy) And what have we learned.
Eve and Saul love dogs
Gram loved colors

@Nance

LOL! Thank you!

It's a cook book!

Only KM could take a story about wife abuse and turn it into a story about how dogs are a human's best friend. And where the heck is Mary???? I really want to hear her platitudes on this especially since she doesn't even own a dog. @Nance, today's BH is perfection!

Somewhere, there’s an irate editor worried about an alienated cat audience who’s already making a PowerPoint presentation with 12 slides featuring cute kitten photos and comic-strip-based spending of the cat-owning demographic.
