Mary Worth 3620

Well, well, well, someone has had a few upgrades to the ol' domicile. Aren't we full of ourselves? How many rooms do a father and son need to fill their house with emptiness?

Today's (laconic) Boldface Haiku is titled

"Drew: Poster Child For Dull Boys".

Drowning
In work!

And speaking of upgrades, turkey stew!

Applause to Wanders for his search through the archives and for two (!) secret messages, and to Nance for today’s BFH title that says it all. What a good start to the week!

That Medicaid scam has been reaping dividends for Jeff. One would think that someone rolling in dough like him wouldn’t need to take food from Mary, including a giant bowl of Gravy Train stew.

I am SO disappointed that Drew’s dissatisfaction is due to overwork. Yawn....

Yahoonski, if you are able to check in, I’m sending good thoughts your way!

"Hey there, son . . ." This dialogue is priceless!

So yesterday they led us to believe that something noteworthy was about to happen in the clinic and then, poof, we're let down again.

"So, how was the clinic today? Anything vaguely dissatisfying about it? You know you can have any woman you want."

Mary made so much delicious turkey stew that she could afford to give Jeff a few days' worth? How big a bird was that thing? And did Saul/Greta/Eve/Max also get a couple days' worth?

I'm surprised Jeff is even hungry after downing that Giganto-Burger for lunch.

Since Mary can make miracles happen with her advice, perhaps she is feeding all of Chatterstone from a stew made from a single turkey hen, 12-14 pounds.

I was up with the birds as usual and read today’s strip before anyone posted. Since then, I’ve been trying to recall whether Dr. Jeff used to live at the Ponderosa or in a Brady Bunch house. Thanks, Wanders, for saving me the trouble of looking it up!

BTW, I gotta say that an attractive man is to June, what a normal conversation is to KM.

p.s. Glad to see you're out and about, Yahoonski!

He still lives with his dad? That's why he can't find a woman (or man).

Turkey Stew, so easy, even Drew can make it (if he was not drowning in work)!

Gather ingredients.
Saute onion in butter and olive oil.
Add garlic and mushrooms and saute until golden.
Stir in the flour.
Whisk in the white wine and stock.
Add the vegetables, cover, and cook until tender.
Stir in the turkey and herbs.
Stir in the cream or half n half (if using), simmer, season, and serve!

@Chester the Dog: Okay, but how does it get so brown?

Mike's recipe is even simpler

Bless you folks for your kind concern, and I should tell you that my bad news was finding I had an unwelcome presence in my gullet, but it was followed by the good news that it hadn't spread beyond there. I'm sure I've got some unpleasant experiences ahead, but nobody's advised me to get my affairs in order. So I plan on being around for another 2 or 3 MW stories, which is to say at least another decade or so. Now let's leave that behind and get poor Drew straightened out.

Anonymous You are on target picking up on
"Hey there, son . . ."

OK I don't have a son, but I have three daughters. I never said "Hey there, daughter"
And if I said that I have leftovers from my girlfriend, who is 37 years older than me, it would have ended badly

@Yahoonski, that's the attitude! So I've decided that while the rest of the world is dealing with COVID, the MW universe is dealing with another virus, the MW platitude virus. It has spread from Mary to Jeff. I mean, shouldn't Jeff's first comment after Drew said that he would post his nature pictures on Instagram have been "What's Instagram"? Jeff doesn't strike me as a person who would know how to use Instagram even though it could be used to get funding for his clinic in the US and/or Vietnam. Instead, Jeff tells his son that hobbies are healthy. The MW platitude virus is spreading through the MW universe and folks, there is no vaccine.
