Mary Worth 3893

That's what men are for, Toby, but how exactly did he do it? I certainly hope he didn't resort to violence.

Um, wouldn't most normal women be mad as heck at a man inserting himself into her professional career and "fixing" her problem? Or does she know?

How cute - the big, manly oven mitt is Ian’s, and the little, mostly useless potholder is Toby’s.

“He FIXED my problem! He said the person who threatened to report me to School Management unexpectedly resigned and went on a long trip. In fact, she might never return! Hand me another muffin!”

Is this it? No showdown? No screaming match? No ultimatae? No sobbing apology?

Does this mean another potentially explosive story line ends with a fizzle?

Well, we shouldn't be surprised, I guess.

"He fixed my problem by eloping to Vegas with that Helen Moss character, now I've finally free of both of those insufferable clods! I can't wait to start living my best life with boy toy Cal while you peer judgementally from behind your azaleas. Thanks again for the advice, Mary!"

Perhaps Ian really IS the Batman. If all he has to do to fix his wife's situation is to tell his (former lover? former TA? former next-door-neighbor?) "this has to stop", and she does, he has more super powers than any man I've ever known.

"Ultimatae"? Really, Scottie? I'll have you know I checked two different Latin dictionaries to find out whether "ultimatum" is a feminine noun, and could not confirm it. Nevertheless, I very much approve of using Latin plurals whenever possible, as long as the gender and case are correct. If I had a laurel wreath, I would bestow it upon you.

@Jana -- Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

Say, isn't that a laurel wreath on your avatar?

Scottie McW - How can you possibly worry about the resolution of trivial matters when there are major developments to ponder? Like when did Toby replace her patterned blue kitchen curtains for plain green ones? And why, oh why, did she and Ian decide to move their potholders from next to the sink to next to the window?!! I'll be up all night...

Scottie McW: They are ivy leaves. My avatar is a maenad, a follower of Dionysos, and Dionysos is big on ivy as well as grapes. Laurel belongs to Apollo, an altogether different fellow. The full image shows a maenad jabbing a satyr in his private parts with a particularly large and pointy thyrsos. Make of that what you will. https://magickfromscratch.com/2013/10/21/dionysos-of-the-spring/
