Zak has a mommy fixation, and Iris hasn’t weighed herself in a long, long time. Also, why is Zak’s voice coming from left of Iris in p. 1 but to her right in p. 2, even though she hasn’t moved her head? Is Zak able to throw his voice?

If Piccadee Falls is such an amazing place to visit, why are there no other people, no trail markers, and no signage?

Ugh. At least Wilbur sank in one panel.

Even if they have no rope, all Iris has to do is get anchored and give Zak something to lift himself. He has 2 arms, 2 legs, & 0 brains.

What a cliffhanger, amirite!?

Let's face it, Zak, if she'd rather sit there arguing there than even attempt to rescue you, you're toast.

Zak seems rather composed considering he's seconds away from almost certain death. Will he now recall and repeat to Iris several stories he's read where frail, helpless women were able to save their children and/or partners through extraordinary feats of strength? Will he ask her if she remembered to turn off the bathroom light, take in the newspaper, and put the milk away?

I'm going back to my theory that he's standing just a few feet above a wide ledge, and this is his outlandish way of thinking he's going to build up enough confidence in Iris that she'll agree to marry him.

Thank goodness for all of the women out there lifting cars off of their children.

As a man, it would simply never occur to me even to try to do so.

Thank you, Helen Clark, for observing Zak's lengthy conversation at a moment when realistically he would have been gasping for breath, not giving a long pep talk to Iris. As for his hanging out on a wide ledge, that WOULD be such a Wilbur-like move that Iris could (and should)just push him down the falls in disgust. In any case, you all have given me a big guffaw to enjoy along with this actually suspenseful plot.

He looked to be hanging fairly far down in the last strip and now he's fairly close to the top. He looks like he could just climb up.

If Iris has nothing to anchor herself to, and the rocks are slippery, she is right in that she couldn't pull him up. If she grabbed him, he'd pull both of them down. I don't think physics apply in this strip though.

Iris: "Zak, I'm sorry, I can't reach you! I can only reach my phone, and use it as a recording device! Do you mind making a quick statement about ... oh, I don't know .. your earthly possessions and who you would like to inherit them? That would give me the strength to pull you up, I know it!"

First, Iris turns down his marriage proposal, now she is undecided about trying to save his life? Zak, it's time to move on
