Mary Worth 4202

While you're looking at your phone, you might notice that Springfield, California, is north of Yosemite. Sounds like Trixie's owner didn't think that was very funny.

Their eyes match their hair. Isn't that nice?

Or creepy. One of those things.

is every veterinary clinic in California called “Animal Hospital”? That’s confusing. Remember, the animal shelter in Santa Royale is Animal Shelter. The Worthiverse is the Land of Generics.

Dr. Ed Harding and his vet team (that’s Steven, apparently) might try scheduling appointments instead of taking walk-ins at any time. It’s a crazy idea, but it might work, Doc!

At some point, Mary and her baked goods are going to figure into this.

Here's a thought: Estelle is apparently unemployed. Hire her as an assistant to set appointments and organize the chaos. Of course, there will be emergencies after hours, but with her right there in the clinic she would know that Dr. Ed legitimately is busy, and not blowing her off.

Hey wait a minute, it's signed by someone named "Wilbur W."!

"Hey uncle Ed, listen to this online review from the Santa Royale dating app."

"I didn't know there was a Santa Royale dating app. What's it called?"

"Dating App."

"And look! Another reviewer called me 'a sniveling little crybaby.' "

"And?"

Green Steven's bulging googly eyes are becoming increasingly disconcerting every time he's depicted head-on. I think he's about to snap under the strain of negative Yelp reviews and start flinging stool sample containers everywhere.

Perhaps Animal Hospital is so overrun by patients because the Worthiverse only allows a new provider of any kind of medical services if they are directly related to a current one. Jeff Corey/Drew, and now Ed Harding/Green Steven. Maybe the reason Steven is "green" is that he envies the salary of a friend who, instead of veterinary medicine, went in to anaesthesia... There's an explanation for everything!

Can you imagine being in the exam room, distraught that your beloved pet is ill with some unknown disease and Green Steven stomps in with those bulging eyes?

He immediately starts screaming at you: "What's wrong? What's wrong? How would I know what's wrong with Trixie? All I know how to do is put dogs down. I've got the needles right here, Baby! Just say the word! You want a diagnosis? Well then get the hell out of here and go ask the vets in Springfield!"

I'm thinking that maybe this is all leading up to the fact that Dr. Ed Harding is a really lousy vet. He hasn't even thought of hiring a receptionist who could set up appointments for his patients. Instead, he treats walk-ins at all hours of the day and night. He thought hiring Green Steven was a good idea. I think Estelle was on to something when she pondered if Dr. Ed Harding was too good to be true. I think soon we'll see a CLOSED sign on Animal Hospital and Mr. Piano Man Ed Harding entertaining the crowds at Sau's.

I think I read somewhere that almost every state has a Springfield. It's a safe location to recommend. There is probably a vet in every one.

The Simpsons live in Springfield.

Helen Clarke: well said. Dr Ed is not a keeper. For Estelle, all roads lead back to Wilbur.

My vet worked the same way as Dr Harding: no appointmets, just bring your animal in. And it worked! And they almost always saw every patient without working overtime. Dr Harding just doesn't know how to do it.

By the way, isn't the full name of Dr Ed's practice "Animal Hospital Animal Hospital?"
