Mary Worth 3934

If you were a REAL fan, you would have called her GENERAL Leia Organa.

Mary is alarmed to see someone else filling her shoes as the resident meddler. This looks bad.

J.R.R. Tolkien and Leia Organa in the same strip? My head hurts.

Considering that Jess hasn’t gotten out of bed and can’t open one of her eyes, it will be interesting to see her navigate her way out of the hospital when she’s discharged. Will she be pushed to the door in a wheelchair and dumped onto the sidewalk? Maybe she can go to Mary’s. It will soon become apparent that Jeff is allergic to Jess, so Mary will push her off on Estelle.

Continuing the theme of classic fantasy quotes—Tolkien, Star Wars—Mary channels Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. ‘What’s this? What’s this?” (Come to think of it, our patient looks more like Sally the rag doll than Princess Leia at the moment.)

Reading this over, I must admit to being a total nerd girl—in my 70s!

Mary has been reading Christianna Brand's classic hospital murder mystery Green for Danger. (There is a technical reason why that method of murder couldn't be done now, but Mary is getting on for 160 years old and her knowledge of medicine isn't entirely up to date.)

Jess has to be the first young woman June has drawn that doesn't have a cute, pert little nose. Whatever you do, Jess and Jared, don't have children.

i see that mary has hospital id and jared doesnt so how does jess know if he really works there ? He could just be a guy off the street who likes to hold hands and recite quotes.

What's this, indeed? Better whip out your binoculars for a closer view, Mary. June hasn't gotten enough mileage from last month's panels yet; I'd be willing to accept a few more of those awesome floating heads of Helen Moss (with Photoshopped cowl neck sweater) bellowing "I see you, Jared!" and threatening to report them to Hospital Management.

Jess sort of reminds me of Wilson from the movie Castaway. Except Wilson was more attractive and assertive.

Who will Mary rush to tell first? Toby? Wilbur? Dawn? Hospital Management?

Well said, Kit Kat! Mary has ready foisted Libby and Wilbur on Estelle

I used to be a hospital volunteer until Covid hit hard in Southern NJ, and now I can't do
anything with patient contact because I am over 70 yr old. Patient contact excludes meddling. But not in Santa Royal

MONDAY

You wonder??? What's there to wonder about? You're Mary Worth! Do you wonder if you should breathe? Of course you should meddle. It's what you do!

No, Mary. They're not in "another world". They're in a "galaxy, far, far away". Try and keep up with the story, okay Mare?

So when do we get to the part where Jared and Jess discover that they're brother and sister?

@HelenClark, I can’t top your comment. Brilliant!

I'm getting a touch perturbed by this storyline. Meddling has been extended to invasion of privacy.

What IS Mary's "volunteer job" at Mount Crumpet Memorial? She clearly has too much time on her hands, but then so does Jared, leaving him time to read poetry and shop for a new girlfriend among his patients.

KitKat - Why, thank you! It doesn't happen often, but every once in a while (like Dr. Jeff?) I get lucky!

@Steve - thanks for volunteering. We have lived in Camden County for almost six years.
