Mary Worth 4052

"Let's keep things they way they are. Just think of me like I'm your former babysitter, Nan, who makes you white rice and gravy, just the way you like it. Isn't this wonderful?"

Instead of people throwing rice, Iris will keep cooking it.

Iris borrowed “I like things the WAY they ARE. You understand, don’t you?” from Mary, who told Jeff that years ago. It remains to be seen if Zak will be as compliant as Jeff.

Well, Iris is certainly taking Mary's brilliant advice to live in the moment and don't worry your pretty little head about the future. Yeah, who needs to plan for the future? When Zak dumps her because he wants a wife and she can't go back to Wilbur because he wants a wife too, maybe she can go live with Tommy and The Babe. Whatever, it'll all work out, right? Can't worry about it now because she's got a Basket-Weaving 101 assignment due Friday.

Doesn't look like anyone will be getting dessert tonight.

C'mon, Zak, all you have to do is 'turn that frown upside down' and you can have that big bowl of instant butterscotch pudding with Cool Whip that Iris was saving as a surprise!

I guess we can understand now why Iris hasn't been able to earn a college degree. She ain't too bright. So, nothing will ever change the love you feel for Zak, Iris? We'll check back with you on that after he turns your ungrateful butt out onto the street.

Maybe if Zak flies to Paris to visit Hugo, he will gain enough clarity to understand.

The quickly negotiated wedding in Rex Morgan is a nice contrast to this witless surprise proposal.

OMG Zak has a soul patch. Notice how it’s perky and hopeful as he makes his proposal…and then it’s flat and droopy when she says no. 😢

No bad blood!

I wonder if Iris and Zak have actually had enough brains to even discuss what they want in the future? A 45-year-old woman and a 25-year-old dude probably imagine very different futures. Zak, for instance, may want to have children, and that probably won't work with Iris.

On the other hand, it's too bad she didn't say yes. A wedding where the groom is the same age as the bride's son, and the bride is the same age as the groom's mother, would be gloriously awkward.

I really hope to wake up to a panel showing Iris with a bowl of hamburger gravy and rice on her head.

Iris, if you and Zak break up now, you get nothing. Get the ring on your finger, and if you break up you get half of his techie fortune. Does the name Melinda French Gates ring any bells?
