Jeff's short term memory loss is fine over salmon squares at the Bum Boat, but in surgery, when removing a kidney, the results are generally tragic.

What's that going on behind Mary with the fish and all that? Is it one of the flying fish we hear so much about, or are Mary and Jeff changing tables from panel to panel?
I thought at first it was a babel fish. Or maybe part of the secret code, you know, like hanging a napkin off your chin, stick a fish in your ear. But by the last panel I decided they must just be underwater.
It's not the fish, it's the tables. And furniture in general: in Mary Worth strips, furniture has a life of its own, moving at will: sofas move inexplicably, drapes appear and disappear (and it's a mercy when they disappear, being incredibly ugly), and in this case, the table shifts around the room on its own volition.
I particularly like the reverse chameleon clothing effect, where jackets and suits change color so as to clash as much with the drapes in the background.
Oh, and kitchen floor retiles itself every few days, in response to a character's thought bubble. As it would.
I think it's one of those fish that dances and sings. Maybe Mary pushed its button and it's in the middle of a performance. Like this:

The Bum Boat is one of those revolving restaurants! Who knew??
That's what I thought PG, that the table was revolving is why so many background views when they are sitting at the same table. lol
Revolving or revolting? I get so easily confused, especially with the fish on the wall swimming around...
Please excuse me, I have to retile my kitchen.
Mary sits still. The Bum Boat, like the rest of the universe, revolves around her.
I hope this strip is the only thing to survive a thousand years from now. Our descendants will drive themselves nuts trying to figure out what life was like in our time.
While Mary and Jeff eat fish and agree how everything is "perfect" in their little Bum Boat world, poor Bonnie is home alone eating Spam and hash browns. She's wringing her hands, trying to figure out WHICH pretty box to part with next! The striped one? The one with the dots?
Anyone notice Jeff is feeding his pet duck at the table?
RE: Napkin, I have a feeling the artist, JG, tried to draw a hand, but screwed it up, and covered it with a napkin.
Give me that filet o fish, give me that fish......
