Mary has literally punched in Liza's face using only her most innocent smile and a loosely veiled threat.
Mary Worth, you diabolical dame! One cup of coffee is all it took for you to convince Liza to quit her job, thus saving Mountview Hospital the trouble of firing her and Dr. Drew Cory the trouble of moving back to Vietnam.
Now that they've traded seats, and Marge has filled their cups to the rim with Brim, things are a lot less messy. At least until Mary pours Brim all over her hand.
Liza, by "mess" are you referring to this plot... or the forced perspective of this diner?
When I first read the phrase, "diligence as a nurse," I didn't know what was going on. I figured we'd moved on to some other story. Even after I had read, "is being questioned," it still took me a moment to get it. The words "Liza" and "diligence" have never been used in the same sentence before. 
Does Liza have time to go to the diner across the street? Of COURSE she has time. She has hours to hang out and talk with Mary about the second warning she received from the head nurse about never actually working.
So this is what goes on in the ladies' room... Ladies don blue terrycloth robes while they smoke there mentholated Camel filters.
Uh... no, it's too easy... I'm not going to say it. I'm not even going to say it. 
Touché! Very nice move, Liza. Drew is completely thwarted. No one ever turns down an invite from Dr. Bailey. Other doctors wait years for dinner with the Baileys, and here Drew is home for three weeks and he already has an invite. Maybe Dr. Bailey wants to see Drew's pictures from Vietnam, and we'll get to watch a slide show!
Driving full speed through the hospital entrance and running Liza over with your car really doesn't count as limiting contact, Drew.
I was very excited when Mary suggested that Drew explain everything to Liza because I really wanted to see Drew explain things again. But then, Mary suggested a new approach...
I really, really hope it takes a very long, insane time for Liza to realize anything. This should continue to be awesome for at least another week...
Drew's and Mary's fingers are having a little trouble today with all the anxiety, so much so that Mary's thumb has actually wandered over to the wrong side of her hand, or is that just an optical illusion brought on by the forced perspective of the sidewalk?

By my count, Drew has now officially broken up with Liza more times than they went out.
Quietly, Liza's evil balloons begin to gather behind Drew, ready to do her bidding. It seems that Drew will not be breaking up with Liza today.
I think the problem is that Drew Cory's character is being written by a woman who wants Drew to break up with Liza, not realizing that guys don't break up, we dump. Yes, Drew agrees to meet with Liza in Conference Room Three, but he doesn't show up. Yes, Liza gets starry eyed as they pass outside of ICU, but Drew doesn't get all nervous, he just says, "hey," and then kisses his new girlfriend. 
Right now there are a whole lot of sick patients wondering where the medical staff might be. But don't worry, they aren't far! All 217 staff members are down at Conference Room Three wishing happy birthday to the most popular doctor in the world... that guy who no one has seen for three years while he was in Vietnam and who has probably broken up with four of the women in the room... well, maybe only three and a half.
