When I first read the phrase, "diligence as a nurse," I didn't know what was going on. I figured we'd moved on to some other story. Even after I had read, "is being questioned," it still took me a moment to get it. The words "Liza" and "diligence" have never been used in the same sentence before.
For those who have been accusing Mary of knowing
everybody, I think this conversation is evidence that Mary really doesn't know Liza at all.
Something about today's strip
put me back in the mood for my favorite Blue Man Group video. I know it wasn't that long ago, but I can't help it.

I had no idea Santa Royale was so trendy, sort of. An old train car converted to a quaint diner/psychotherapy shoppe!
Possible marketing slogans for "The Diner".
"The Diner--Leave your worries (and your wheelchairs) behind"
"The Diner-A delightful mix of 60's ambience with 60's accessibilty"
Are work and romance mutually exclusive in the Worthiverse? I'm in love with my husband, but I still manage to go to work every day.
I think somebody needs pie!!!!
Pie Pie Me-ooo-my!
I have always found that a slice of pie is the most comforting comfort food ever. If you don't have access to diner pie, a Pop Tart will do in a pinch. The carbs give you a strange, buzzy feeling that feels a lot like love.
She is very diligent at being a stalker. Maybe Mary will convince her to put the diligence she puts into stalking Drew, into her job?
Breakfast pie please!
Is this the first instance of head-to-table (much like "face touching" or the elusive "double face touching" and the rare and hilarious "napkin to face") in Mary Worth?
Frankly, I found it hilarious! I mean, did she slowly sink her head down onto the table or did she just, BANG, slam her head on the table?
I wish all the younger Mary Worth gang would start hanging out at ''The Diner''. It would be just like Seinfeld! Drew and all his dating problems would be perfect as Jerry, Jill Black has the perfect amount of sass & sarcasm to be Elaine, Wilbur would be perfect as George, and that wacky neighbor with the child-scarring artwork, Charley Smith as Kramer! Mary can be the Salmon Square Nazi.
@James in ND: it is not the first time a heartsick woman has plunked down her head in despair. Last time alcohol and texting were involved.

She hangs her head and cries on my shirt.
She must be hurt very badly.
Tell me what's making you sad, Li?
Open your door, don't hide in the dark.
You're lost in the dark, you can trust me.
'Cause you know that's how it must be.
Lisa Lisa, sad Lisa Lisa.
So yesterday I was thinking... it would probably be too much to hope for to have the diner's name be just "Diner", like "Restaurant"!
But today I'm giddy with excitement and well, over the moon that indeed, it's... "DINER"!!!
This boring name shows ZERO creativity, and I fear a lack of artistic "diligence" is on full display. (I think SOMEONE, ahem..Karen?...Joe? needs a warning!
Try a google image search on "Diner South Beach".
I think Joe went there and traced it.
@ Steven W: How did you ever find it? I wonder how many other "Santa Royale" locations are lifted from Google images? Can you find the original Restaurant? And Mountview Hospital?
Wanders!!! Thanks! lol that put a big smile on my face... it's been a crazy week so far (the city is flooding) and I've been finding solace in Mary Worth and all of the comments :-)
I forgot all about that. I can remember the weekend when I discovered this page and started reading the strip from Entry 1 up to the present. That was one heck of a weekend! :-)
I don't guess it occurred to LiZa, living in her own little LiZa-verse as she does, that she should consult the object of her love if it would be a good idea for her to walk away from her only source of income.
Nah, what was I thinking? That might be too rational...
Where is Liza's cup of tea or coffee?
She must have ordered something that takes a long time to brew. Or Mary renigned on her offer to buy.
Not in love with nursing, but in love with Dr. Drew. A nursing degree takes how many years to acquire? Therefore, she's been stalking Drew for how long?
(sorry, will put my logic away)
LiZa is desperately trying to avoid Mary's intervention by not looking Mary in the eyes. Silly girl, Mary has her ways.
with lizas head buried in the table . mary worrys she might have to pick up the tab and gasp thetip.
@Maude Findlay: NO SALMON SQUARES FOR YOU!
I see Liza seeing the light Thursday: "Of Course! If I love my job, Drew will love me too!"
"You heard about our little break?" That's the first indication from LiZa that she was hearing ANYTHING that Drew has been saying. Oh Mary, working your wonders again! You even magically got LiZa her missing cup of coffee!
