Mary Worth 1,057

Oh, the sweet, sweet irony. If only someone had said this at the Aldo Kelrast intervention. Then that story, too, could have had a happy ending.

Oh LiZa, you nutty kid. I thought you had some Charlie Sheen tiger blood in you, but it turns out you just didn't like your job. This is how your life ends, not with a bang but with Mary spouting inane platitudes. Looks like there's a Charterstone Pool Party in our near future.

Our long national nightmare is over. Maybe.

LiZa cries giant black tears of relief now that Mary has straightened out her life.

I had a similar thought -- platitudes about failing to make the turn are pretty cold, coming from the woman who sent Aldo to his fiery death.

I may need to stop reading, just like I did with the Foobs when they went into repeats. This storyline had some potential and now it's fizzled out with a simple lecture from Mary. Liza will go off into the sunset with a checkered suit selling 1996 Dodge Neons. That is not right. We were owed some drama, darnit.

And Giella, with his pens cold in the snow, sat puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without boxes, it came without birds, nothing was splattered, scattered or stirred. Giella thought, as he sketched hands touching face, what if this story moves at a much slower pace? What if Moy, he thought, doesn't write for my skill? What if LiZa, perhaps, is more static than Jill?

duckduck, that was wonderful!

I vote they can Moy and hire you to write the strip.

I'll give Moy credit for an unusual plot twist. Usually the relentless protagonist (let's say, a salesperson) realizes the meaninglessness of her profession and finds fulfillment in a more helpful profession (say, nursing)!

Moy has turned this scenario upside-down! Are you bored with providing care and comfort to those in need? Why. switch to a career in sales!

Wow! Who can argue with life altering wisdom like Mary's?

I only check in on MW every week or so. Is this the same storyline with the stalker nurse?

Why hasn't Mary put the mojo whammy on her and wiped her puny little merely-mortal brain already? Isn't there a "TEH INTERNETS AM SCARY!!1!" storyline waiting in the wings?

Too soon.

This story started on April 1, and we can only assume that if finally ended today, July 3 (of the same year, thankfully!). It is probably not the longest MW story ever, but certainly the longest MW story about nothing. I say the next adventure of Mary and Friends better have a little zing, or more newspapers will cancel the strip - and what will we make fun of then, huh?
