As an ex-President once said, There you go again.... The anticipation of what MIGHT transpire at this Peace Village fundraising dinner is great (purple-booted Jill meets text-crazed Liza! sightings of Dr. Bailey and Dr. Koop!), but we will likely only be dashed on the rocks of disappointment yet again, as this plays out in the dullest way possible.
I'm going to predict that Jeff meets a new lady at the fundraising dinner who has EVEN GREATER FUNDRAISING ABILITIES THAN MARY! Oh, the dilemma! Oh, the drama! Oh, thzzzzzzzz.
Wait...WHAT!!? A few weeks later?! Denied - again!! We don't have any LiZa-in-rehab, no Drew-finding-a-new-stalker... All we're left with is an impatient Dr. Jeff, a Peace Village that we were led to believe is fully functional and Mary in a pink nightmare.
So now we find out that Drew didn't come home to see his sister's wedding, but because the Peace Village clinic was closed? When did this happen?
I'd have to say, though, that closing the clinic makes sense. If the doctors there were so pathetic that they needed Mary to rush out there and tell them to use antibiotics when Jeff was sick, then it really has no excuse for existence anyway.
It would be a scary thing to be sick in the Worthiverse.
The WaPo screwed things up today with their King features strips and has put in repeats from last week, 7/7/11, for some inexplicable reason.
Of course, Mary Worth is so dull and slow moving that I almost took that strip for the current one, til I looked at the date. I had to go over to the Chicago Tribune to read the current one. By the way, it said something about "a" Peace Village opening, maybe it wasn't Dr Jeff and Dr Drew's one.
@phoebes - I'm seeing today's strip at the WPost website, so whatever the problem was has been solved, I suppose. When did the clinic close? How was Adrian and the cop's honeymoon? Is Dawn off the computer? How on earth is Jill? So many loose ends...
3 immediate thoughts on seeing today's strip: 1) Mary threw out Jeff's Kindle and he's now forced to revert back to reading paper. 2) Dr. Jeff really looks like a Charlie McCarthy manequin on the coach--just add the monocle. 3) I have no doubt that I'll taste my breakfast a second time tomoorw after reading Dr. Jeff's comment upon seeing the vision of Mary in her pink dress. ugh.
My first thought when reading today's strip was that Jeff was STILL waiting for Mary to get ready for the fundraiser dinner WEEKS LATER! Now that she's finally ready, he's probably changed his mind about going by now.
Gosh...Mary's entrance reminded me of Audrey Hepburn on the stair landing in "My Fair Lady"! Except Audrey Hepburn was young and beautiful and wearing a stunning gown, and Mary is...um....not. And to think it took her weeks to pick out that upholstery thing she's got on.
I'm late to the party tonight, but my Jupiter! What was everyone, um, snacking on today? The comments on Mary's dress are hilarious! "Take that, Giella! Go shopping with Bonnie? Bonnie Johnson? and see what a real dress looks like, for crying out loud!"

Weeks later?!?!?!
Lay-zee!
Maybe the coffee hasn't kicked in yet, but THIS is a "plot" development?
And I wasn't even kissed...

The Peace Village clinic is closed? The same clinic that Drew bragged they "managed to rebuild... using limited funds"?
I only hope that Mary's other fundraising ideas don't include a benefit fashion show.

I thought proper attire for a Vietnam fund raiser was Black Pajamas.

Enough with the Peace Village!
Plot twist: Dr. Bailey is a woman, and she shows up at the fundraiser, and she and Drew fall in love.
OK, so that's totally lame, but I bet it's still more interesting that what will actually happen.
Dr. Jeff joined the Nation of Islam!?! Now that's a plot line.

mrvy@11.31a - those are not questions we will ever get the answers to if we depend on Karen Moy for them.
I suggest we write an "alternative" Mary Worth strip if we want the answers.
Maybe Jill will be at the fund raiser. There's a gal that never turns down a party!

@ Anonymous---hilarious!
Oh god, I went to see the whole strip and now my eyes hurt...
Mary looks hot...literally hot. Must be winter in Santa Royale. Mary's wearing what appears to be an all-wool evening gown.
Looks like Mary has been shopping at the Bea Arthur boutique!
@Chester, 1:11- Somethin' wrong with the Bea Arthur boutique? Don't judge a person till you've walked a mile in their caftans!
I think I saw Mary flashing a little ankle.

That's not the real Mary! It's her doppleganger! Will Jeff be able to tell the difference?

God'll get you for that, Chester.
(Incidentally, wasn't that the name of one of Maude's ex-husbands?)
Or did Mary finally find a way to get rid of all those salmon squares in her freezer?
Like Lady Gaga's meat dress?
Poor Mary, when she breaks into a sweat on the dance floor at the fundraiser, stray cats will be following her all night long!

Mary looks like she's nine feet tall today! She's probably rockin' some Lady Gaga shoes under that pink...upholstered... garment thing... whatever.
