I'll start coming up with new things to say, as soon as writer Karen Moy does. But that may be a while since my online thesaurus lists the following words as synonyms for deplorable:
afflictive, awful, blameworthy, bummer, calamitous, dire, dirty, disastrous, disgraceful, dishonorable, disreputable, distressing, dolorous, downer, dreadful, execrable, faulty, grievous, grim, heartbreaking, heartrending, horrifying, intolerable, lamentable, lousy, melancholy, miserable, mournful, opprobrious, overwhelming, pitiable, poor, regrettable, reprehensible (already used), rotten, sad, scandalous, sickening, stinking, terrible, tragic, unbearable, unsatisfactory, woeful, wretched
Have a deplorable St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Um, thanks, I think? :-)
"More training, Grasshopper."
I think Toby is fighting a battle with whatever happened to her left hand. She must have landed on it to twist it like that. Mary should get her to the ER.
Nola isn't fighting any battle at all. She is the classic sociopath, totally free from guilt and smug in her feeling that everyone else is foolish to allow themselves to be controlled by empathy.
Wanders, I agree. This strip has become even more boring and repetitive than usual. The little reminder that "Mary and Toby continue to discuss Nola Wolvenstein" is a nice touch. I guess Moy assumes we must have fallen asleep and wondered if we'd missed anything.
GAAAAH!!! What happened to Toby's thumb???!?!?!?!!? Is that a pre-syncopal fact touch?

I'm so overwhelmed by the horrible thumb injury that I can't proofread. "Face", of course, not "fact".

I love how Mary gossips and divulges Nola's private confessions, she tells Nola how awful she is acting, she tells Toby how awful (opprobrious?) Nola is acting and then she skids to a halt and spouts a saintly platitude about being kind and understanding to Nola. I, too, am fighting a battle here, Mary.
...."a hard battle."
Oh, yes, that Nola Wolverson is UNSATISFACTORY, all right! (Nice list, Wanders!)
In the meantime, Nola is hiding in the shrubs, taking notes on Mary and Toby's continuous discussion. She is learning Mary's technique in order that Nola herself may become the Official Charterstone Meddler. Soon she will be the most powerful person in Santa Royale!
Grammar mistake in Panel One! Sheesh! What would Prof. Chinbeard think?
Thank you, Amfortas! I noticed it, too. Also, on Thursday: "it resulted in HIM losing his job." Tsk, tsk.
Moy's grammar is the least of her problems.
Yes, Moy's grampaw is a much bigger problem.
Mary doesn't have a single female friend other than Toby. She'd be WISE not to cheese off her one remaining gal pal with this holier-than-thou attitude! She will quickly have zip, zero, nada friends, and even Nola won't eat lunch with her anymore!
Mary's inspirational quote has been all over my Facebook feed lately (worded slightly differently and attributed to Philo, 30 BC - 40 AD). This has got me thinking about what Mary's Facebook page might look like. Although I suppose she's more of a Pinterest type.
Toby is so desperate to get out of this conversation that she's hitchhiking.
Oh my goodness, we need to create a Mary Worth facebook account. Great idea, Mollie!
As for Toby... 1 2 3 4, I declare a Thumb War!
I would much prefer to follow Mary on Twitter. She could offer a "Platitude of the Day".
I see a great plot twist coming. Now that Nola shopping, perhaps the clerk or some of the shoppers in the store will be her formers tormentors and force her into a shame spiral! Maybe she'll be a kleptomaniac! Or maybe she'll be one of those people who purchase, wear, and return for full refund insisting that the wine stain was already on the dress! Keep the faith that something great will happen very soon.
Where does Nola shop? That mannequin must be from the 1940s.
[SUNDAY] I like the European influences in panel three today, as the palm tree pays homage to the Tower of Pisa, while Toby does her best to portray the Venus de Milo.
And yes, there are CONSEQUENCES for Nola's actions! She admires the flapper mannequin's dress, ignoring the beautiful bridal gown across the street. Could a new storyline be on the horizon for us so soon?
Nola will break Shop Window with her fist, because nothing stops her from getting what she wants, and she wants that fabulous Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress from 1975. She will think nothing of leaving Mannequin stark naked, because she always gets what she wants.
However, Shop Window's first cousin five times removed is Potted Plant from Restaurant, and Potted Plant has told Shop Window how awful Nola is. So Shop Window will cut Nola's arm, and she will go to Hospital for stitches.
Where she will fall in love with Dr. Drew (provided he can put down his Men's Fitness magazine long enough to stitch her up), and realize that she's been a horrible person for her entire life.
She will repent for her sins, quit her job, have Dan Smithers reinstated, and buy Bridal Gown in anticipation of her wedding to Dr. Drew at Church.
But then Drew will run off with hot cop who's always bringing him drunk patients who end up in Detox, and Nola, left weeping at Altar wearing Wedding Gown, will FINALLY realize that you can't always get what you want.
Then, inspired by the Stones' song, she'll go after Ronnie Wood, who is, I hear, free again.

LOL, that's awesome Beagle Vet!!
