Mary Worth 1,364

Wilbur!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Wait. Is that Dawn? Suddenly, she's looking very sultry. I know I should focus on the tragedy, but, really, Dawn? Looks like she's blossoming just in time to become an independent woman.

Wilbur fell against the railing, not onto a trampoline. He'll be fine.

Wanders, perhaps Dawn is transferring into -- The Purple Wonder Woman! Life is SUPER Brutal!

So how is killing Wilbur going to teach Dawn the valuable lesson to stop moping around everytime she gets dumped?

Is she going to meet a handsome funeral director and fall in love?

Previously, we determined that Wilbur's pants matched that ghastly jacket and he was wearing a suit. So now, he has either changed his pants, or perhaps he was "layering" and removed his outer pants to reveal his khakis.

I think the goal of this storyline is to kill off Wilbur, and then, because Dawn will have lived through so much, she will have gained valuable insight and maturity and therefore will be able to assume The Mantle Of Wendy from Mary, who doesn't care for it anyway.

Failing that, she'll come home even more sure of Life's Brutality and need several Platitude Chats Of Intervention with Mary at Diner.

I think Wilbur lost his balance weeks ago, when he decided to try the "geographic cure" on his mopey, dopey daughter. Parenthood is brutal!

The homage to a real tragedy via annoying, sappy comic goes on.

Now I want both Olsons to go down.

I am still miffed that Moy led me to believe that Dawn was pregnant...

Viewed out of context, that first frame looks like a '60s dance music show, with some wild go-go dancers on the left, Dawn gyrating with the hot-hot-hot pole action, and Wilbur the overwhelmed host with the crazy Vegas-style tux jacket. And you know they're dancing to "Wipe Out"!

Wait - there was no tsunami with the Costa Concordia disaster, but with Wilby falling into the ocean like that, there will be one.

Seriously, if Moy kills off Wilbur, I am done! All of my favorite storylines have mostly included him!

If Wilbur goes in the water, I have a feeling the world will now face an epidemic of seagull obesity.

I predict Wilbur will be saved. Dawn will have an epiphany at the side of his hospital bed: "other men may dump me but my dad is there for the duration. Life isn't just brutal, it downright STINKS!"

I love the "seagull obesity" comment, but I really want to see Dawn called upon to exhibit the "strong swimming" ability her father thinks she has. After months of clicking on her laptop, followed by some anaerobic TV watching, it's hard to believe she has ANY swimming ability. . . However, the plot demands that she rise to a challenge at this point. Here it comes. She swims Wilbur to shore and has to administer CPR, not rescue breathing. Eww, Don't even think about rescue breathing. Good thing she kept that First Aid certificate up. . .

They make it to the island only to discover that Kong lives there. Will the natives tie Dawn to a stake as an offering to Kong?
Or will they be on Jurassic Park island where Wilbur will become a before dinner snack for T Rex?

"This pole remindes me of Dave."

Yesterday Dawn was on the lower/ocean side of the pole. Today she's on the higher side and Wilbur's going over.
She must have spun around and knocked him off the boat.

The green suit pants changing to khakis is rediculous.

Is it still night time?

Might want to take the jacket and shoes off if you're expecting to go into the drink Wilbur. They may weigh you down....more.

This is actually one of the more action-packed story line's we've seen from MW.

Love the hidden comment Wanders!

Jerry Bear-Maybe Dawn will make it to Kong Island and he'll fall for her like the original fell for Fay Wray! She will be Kong's Queen!

Am I the only one wondering why Wilbur doesn't have a sandwich in his hand?

Does this mean that Wilbur is really more unbalance than our dear Dawn?

Now, that's BRUTAL.

I think LouiseF is right, and that Dawn will dive in after Wilbur and tow him to shore like a rescue dolphin. That green chenille bedspread of a jacket is gonna be a problem, though. Soaked, it will weigh as much as Wilbur and Dawn combined.

I know Moy wrote this story weeks ago, but please, Miss Karen, don't kill Wilbur! Kill Ian, we haven't seen him in years, and he is always annoying when he does show up.

As an afterthought, does anyone in the blog family read Rex Morgan? Melissa Claridge is about to re-enter, and she's been among the missing way longer than Ian in MW. Fifteen years real time, I think.

@fauxprof, I read Rex Morgan on Comics Kingdom after several year of not seeing him in the newspaper, so I don't remember Melissa. You might want to check out Foxtrot en Espanol on GoComics.
