Mary Worth 1971

Medical clinic and a matinee: The perfect date for Hanna... but poor Sean. His girl friend just invited herself to his urologist appointment. Maybe if he sinks lower into his piano bench, he can just disappear.

She could have opted to wait in his apartment and snoop around, but noooo...

Sean's not going to the urologist. Look at his arm in Panel 1. It's obviously broken and needs to be reset.

Sean has other worries, considering how Hanna's stroking and gripping that flute.

Lots of double entendres there. Of course, when Moy talks about a medical center appointment, she's only talking about a medical center appointment. How disappointing!

That's the "Nearby Medical Center" in scenic Nearby, Arizona.

Maybe it's Funky Winkerbean syndrome, but "medical appointment" causes chords of impending doom to sound.
Poor Sean and Hanna...

Sean's appointment is with an endocrinologist concerning Sean's excessive body hair. Over the past couple of days, we've been treated/afflicted with the sight of his hairy arms and chest hair that's climbing up to his chin. Bleah.

What movie will they see? "Birdman," maybe?

Just when you think we MIGHT be done here...!

Please don't tell me that, of all the possible interesting story complications, KM settles on a tepid medical "condition" that threatens the life and happiness of SeanDon.

I honestly don't think I can endure it.

I think we eventually get more and more inured to Joe's visual solecisms, so I depend on Wanders and the rest of you to point them out. Today, for instance, until Wanders clued me in, I didn't even notice the improbable length of the piano or its sudden increase in height in the second panel. Once alerted, however, I'm proud to say I did observe that Sean has no legs. Perhaps Hannah won't notice, though. I hear her eyesight is pretty bad.

Hamma says "I don't mind," about going with Sean to his appointment. Is there any chance Sean might mind his new girl friend's finding out about his medical condition?

Sean just has to get his prescription for Cialis renewed.

In pane 2, Hanna shed her newly youthful face and finally looks like a praying mantis again.

Thanks for pointing out Sean's missing legs, Yahoonski. Once I noticed, I couldn't stop laughing.

Where are Sean's legs? I hope he isn't going to see Dr. Kaput!

@Shmoopie at 11:44 AM: Might you possibly mean "preying" mantis?

Ironically, Sean's doctor is just about to order him to quit driving.

Maybe Moy will allow us to accompany the happy couple to the grocery store and to the senior center. And if we all go to the movies, Uncle Joe might revisit his roots and to do a movie poster action scene. I just can't wait.

I don't mind. It's always fun to go to the medical center and read magazines that are covered with flu germs.
