Mary Worth 2736

It's been a busy 9 months for Zak. He developed a game of some sort that has made him millions of dollars; founded and staffed Zakiks Studios; and moved from his parents' house into a 12th-floor luxury apartment. Meanwhile, Iris Skyped with her other ex-boyfriend twice, and Mary went on a four-day cruise with Toby. If Iris and Zak get married, will Zak age at a faster rate until he catches up with her? Will Iris and Tommy have to visit him once a week in the nursing home?

Is "coffee" what the kids call it these days?

Today's full dialogue, including the portion that was omitted due to space consideration:

Panel 1:
Z: "THIS is where I live nowadays!"
I: "THIS is where you live?
Z: "Yes, there on the STAIRS!"

Panel 2:
I: "Nice."
Z: "Do you want to come up for some coffee?"
Z: "If so, I'll take a small with 2 creams Iris; the coffee shop is on the 3rd floor."

I think by the fact that Zak asked if she's like coffee followed by a question mark (versus an exclamation point!) means that he's really interested in a hot cup of java. Love is not for Iris.

Apparently Zak completed college, graduated (and maybe got an advanced degree too - MBA?), then created a computer game, got funding to start and staff a business, moved, bought new clothes and a new car, got a makeover, etc., while Iris continues in her freshman year taking introductory 101 classes. Fabiana seems like a much better match for Zak than Iris.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "True Love Lives In A Highrise And Has An Espresso Machine".

This!
This? Nice!
Coffee?

Wait a minute. Where's Zak's fab car? They drove to the restaurant. So they must have driven to Zak's apartment. Then he must have parked the car somewhere. So we've already established that Iris isn't ready for the evening to end. So why does he ask her innocently if she wants to come up for coffee?

This makes even less sense than usual.

Scottie McW., I wondered about Zak's car too. Maybe he stole it Who needs to own a car when living in such a walkable neighborhood? Perhaps Zakiks Studio is located in a nearby storefront, or a tent.

He’s got a couple of rooms in the basement. He’s also the super.

@Scottie & KitKat: Enterprise came to the restaurant, picked it up, and took it back to the airport. #conveinient

I'm frankly startled at this turn of events. Isn't this the first time in the Worthiverse that a single man and a single woman have been this close to.... Well, let's just say "his apartment"?

@Anonymous 12:23. No, I remember that creepy Charlie Smith and the separated lady whose name escapes me being in Charlie's apartment when he invited her to look at his "etchings" and she was aghast and asked him to "think of the children".

I'll even be more shocked if JB draws Iris doing "the walk of shame".

Walk of shame = walk to Mary's apartment for advice

"Let's forget the whole thing."
