Wilbur, now might be a good time for you to catch up on reading Ask Wendy. This letter might be of particular interest:
In our chaotic and unpredictable world, that we dare to believe in true love is cause for applause. True love doesn't always appear as we expect it. Sometimes the love that exists in our lives is not romantic, but that doesn't make it less real. We can experience real love for a partner... or for a parent... for a child... for a friend.. for a pet... or for God. When we think of true love, we often think of romance, but we are given more options than that. As we look for true love, let's stop and think about the good things and people in our lives. True love exists if we know where to look for it.
Savor this father-daughter moment because its the only love you'll ever know. Unless you get a pet. Or a sandwich.

A mixed bag, huh? "Oh, I was scammed and betrayed by the woman who I thought was the love of my life. I ran up my credit card for an expensive ring for her. I neglected my assignment to report on survivor stories. IAnd I never learned how to salsa dance. Yes, a mixed bag."
Speaking of bag, I need to talk to Mary. Do you know if she's home?

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"The Worst Part Of Waking Up Is Westons In Your Cup".
Good Morning.
Dad! Flight? Travels? Everything?
Mixed bag...
Travels? Antarctica - no story of survival (not that we heard/saw). Bogota - no story of survival (none that we heard/saw). So I guess half of the time Wilbur was cold the other half he was hot. And he already said he isn't going to tell anyone anything about the Fabiana disaster. So all that time away and . . . nothing. So is Wilbur done with survival stories (not that he ever wrote one)? Back to Ask Wendy?
Waiting for that "Aiee!" moment when Wilbur steps out of his apartment to empty the trash and runs into Iris and Zak canoodling in the hall... He's heading for another heartbreak. The anticipation is delicious!
The more I think about this, the more I think Iris might be better off getting back together with Wilbur. I mean... she's been giving Zak the sultry stare for hours (days?) now... she tells him that they're all alone for the next two days... she's thrown back her 4th glass of wine while he's still sipping his first. How many 25-year old guys would sit there going on and on about how "nice" it all is?
Is that "Dad!" as in "So happy to see you!", or "Dad!" as in "Oh No, I need to get my current married beau out of the apartment stat!"? "Stat" is one of the applicable medical terms the dawn learned while she actually attended classes.
We all seem to be missing the obvious plot development:
-Wilbur (a.k.a. "The Fool", or "El Tonto" as Pedro would say) meets Zak with Iris.
-Zak tells Wilbur he's Wilbur's son.
-Wilbur says "!".
-Zak tells his newly found dad that he needs some funds to keep Zakkiks afloat.
-Wilbur initial declines, noting that money's a little tight after his recent trip.
-Iris gets angry that Wilbur isn't helping his son.
-In an effort to get/stay on Iris' good side, Wilbur takes out a 2nd mortagage on his Charterstone condo to provide the funds to Zak.
-With his company now in a strong financial position again, Zak proposes to Iris, giving her an emerald engagement ring--a great deal he found 2nd-hand on the internet.
-Wilbur becomes Iris' father-in-law.
-Love is not for Wilbur
I was so hoping for Wilbur to have another AAAHgasm.
So now Wilbur thinks he can jump right back into Iris' life after dumping her for the duplicitous Fabiana....I think he should be drummed unceremoniously from the Corps of Advice Columnists.
I’m just waiting for Zak’s fatal flaw to be revealed. I’m pretty sure that rich, handsome, well-educated young men are seldom particularly attracted to much older women with druggie sons. We shall see. And I can’t wait for the epic breakup scene. Unless it just peters out like so many Worthiverse plots...
I just want Iris to be happy and Wilbur-less, because she's the most likable regular cast member by far. And let's face it, she's not likely to find a better catch than Zak if she keeps fishing in Santa Royale
