Ummm, Toby, double standard much? It’s okay that you’re much younger than Professor Chinbeard, but not okay that Zak is younger than Iris? Perhaps, with Mary’s tacit approval of Zak and Iris, Santa Royale is edging toward the late 20th century, and could make it into the 21st in time.
As Toby rightly points out, it would be far less Strange if she was younger than him, like Fabiana and Wilbur. Although I do appreciate Mary correctly favoring couples who are Attractive (like Toby and myself, of course).
@Chester, your comment reminded me of a neighbor I had. She was an old busybody, just like Mary Worth, minus the salmon squares and Kelk. She would spend all day standing in the lobby minding everyone's business, asking people who they were seeing when they came in the building, where you were going if you walked out of the building, standing in the window watching who was coming and going etc. One day, my boyfriend at the time came to visit and she followed him onto the elevator to see what apartment he was going to. She was Mary Worth times 100.
I am afraid this might turn into one of those "what will the neighbors say or think" situations and Iris (who can't seem to remember that she dumped Wilbur) will go running back to him. And the world of Mary Worth returns to its 1950s slumber.
"They're an attractive couple, and she looks very happy!" Well, Iris is happy, but what about poor Zak? He's stuck with this middle-aged, wishy-washy drip who can't even remember that she dumped Wilbur and then Wilbur dumped her, and then ... and then ... Sheesh! Zak might was well date DAWN!
Ah, Toby!! All this time and you don't know when you are about to stoke the meddling fires of Mary Worth?! Put on the Sanka, get out the muffins, 'cause we're in for several days on Mary's soapbox... Hope she starts by lecturing Toby about her grammatical misuse of the word "her"...
SATURDAY "Long-distance relationships can be tough!" ... Yeah, especially when you both break up with each other! That makes things really tough, almost impossible, even!
What will Mary say to Wilbur about "Ask Wendy"? Will she try to wring a column out of his story with Iris, Fabiana, and Pedro? Or will she pass on the baton, knowing that Wilbur has gained so much more experience from his year of travelling, now so much wiser and able to dispense sage advice? ... NOT!!!
When Mary hands “Ask Wendy” back to Wilbur, at least she has the satisfaction of knowing she wrote her own (admittedly lame and pedantic) advice. Wilbur has been happily cutting and pasting old Ann Landers and Dear Abby columns from the 1960s.
Wait, I'm confused. Wasn't Iris giving one of Tommy's friends a ride home? And now they're smooching?!? What will Zak's mommy say?
I stopped reading MW for a while, and then I saw a strip with Fabiana and Wilbur talking about an emerald ring, and I thought, "Wow! This seems really interesting! I must have missed a lot. I can't wait to find out the backstory behind all of this!" But, it turns out that there wasn't any interesting backstory. What I saw was what I got. ... And yet I keep comin' back for more. Go figure!
Sunday Welcome back, DWET. All of us know that "interesting backstory" is an oxymoron in Mary Worth.
Hmm, why is Toby referring to her marriage as a "relationship"? Ian hasn't appeared in a loooonnggg time (years, I think). Is he still alive? Did Toby sack him?

Fauxprof, I strongly resemble that remark!

"They're an attractive couple, unlike when Iris was with that stubbly blimp Wilbur."
Is the question mark above Zak's right shoulder a foreshadowing of doom? (Maybe Wilbur running down Ziris in the Charterstone parking lot?)
Mary's only saying that Iris looks attractive because she's wearing the same outfit that Mary wore to the formal dinner on her cruise.
Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"If A Tree Falls In The Irony Forest And Only An Oblivious Pot Is There To Hear It, Is The Kettle Still Black?"
New boyfriend...
Strange!
Why? Attractive couple, happy.
Don't know. Younger!
If they were an unattractive couple, then it would be strange.
Speaking of unattractive, what's with Mary's 'Elephant Man' look this morning?
Geez, you two, nosy much? Do they spend all day looking out the window, spying on their neighbors?
Lovely Boldface Haiku today, Nance! Well done!

Iris will be drowning at the pool party....and Zak can’t swim. Wilbur and his Speedo will save her (unless Mary gets there first).

Yah Nance! Home run!
@Delilah, @MissScarlet--Thank you both.

Boy, doesn't Dr. Jeff Cory know that all too well.
