Dawn, the 'e' in email stands for electronic, not ether. The ethers have never been a very reliable delivery system, which explains why Wilbur never heard from you.
"I saw so much overseas" and pretty much concluded that eating bland muffins in a dank apartment in a past its prime senior community with my boomerang daughter whose got more issues than a newstand is where I really want to be. Also, too, in close proximity to Mary Worth.
In other news, they say that you should learn something new every day. I am off to a good start: I learned that if you go to the Mary Worth website linked on the front page on a Sunday, they don't post the Sunday throwaway panels! You have to go to a different site (e.g., Comics Kingdom) to see them.
I suppose that Dawn’s failure to communicate with Wilbur over the last year has something to do with her internet addiction of a few years ago. (It was cured by kite-flying, believe it or not, for the benefit of anyone who’s new here.) She must have sworn off of all electronic media completely—no Skype, no e-mail, no texting. She turns in all her college assignments in longhand, with little hearts over every I instead of dots.
Dawn, you should have used the Internets, not the ethers. Haven't you learned anything in your 15 years at the U. of S.R.? BTW, keep chowing down the muffins and you'll develop a muffintop.
Did Wilbur even tell anyone where he went? Neither Dawn nor Mary asked him about Colombia or anywhere else. Dawn hasn't mentioned her adventures in adulting, either. What a dysfunctional duo!
The first muffin-involved panel today appears to show a muffin with a look of consternation. Not that I like the idea of anthropomorphizing muffins (too cutesy), but if they keep showing up in the Worthiverse, they start looking like they have attitude after awhile, probably because, by my calculation, they are at least a week old, which could account for the "clink" I imagined hearing yesterday when Dawn and Wilbur bumped those same week-old muffins.
After reading this strip, I thought someone had slipped me some ether and I don’t mean the internet kind.
Like KitKat said, these two knuckleheads put the “fun” in “dysfunctional”. If my father had traveled the world for a whole year, I would be dying to hear his adventures, especially if he almost got me a new mother who was my age.
Yes, if my dad travelled around to different countries in the world, I'd at least want to know which countries he went to. I'd send him Email or texts as well. Most countries have at least basic internet and phone services.
@KitKat: If Dawn is working on developing a muffintop, what does Wilbur already have? A Bundt cake?
I made a delicious pink cake today in honor of John Dill. I wish it had the magical properties of Mary's muffins! Maybe I just need a pink sugar statue of Mary on top! That's the ticket!

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Eat, Blab, Love".
Pictured good thoughts. Missed you, travels.
Extremes: highs, lows.
Comforting, familiar, familiar.
New Year, right perspective.
So much: lucky, blessed, loved.

Nance, that boldface haiku actually looks like a real poem! Alas, one that has traveled through the ether.
Nanc: Superb titling today!(Not that every other day isn't also superb.)
KitKat: Nobody cares where Wilbur goes, only that he be gone.
@Yahoonski
Yeah, that Wilbur really lights up a room when he leaves it.

All you have to do is hit the Buy a Print link, and you get the full strip (no buying necessary).

Wilbur looks like he is gazing at Yorick's skull. It's just a muffin, Wilbur.

@Scottie McW:. that's because he's usually blocking the light when he's in a room
