Mary Worth 2881

Without Wilbur even noticing, Mary has talked him back from the edge of the cliff. In fact, I hadn't even noticed either. She's that good at what she does.

Mary saw that Wilbur was on a slippery slope. (Drum roll please.)

What's up with that evil-looking cloud formation? Is it coming for Wilbur too? Yikes.

Terrific secret message, Wanders.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Hank Williams Would Be Uncomfortable If He Knew About This".

Country tunes.
Hank Williams.
Understood...own.

Speaking of Hank Williams, I look around and there's a meddler following me.

Coming attractions: Wilbur moves to Nashville to try breaking into the music scene. Mary permanently takes over Ask Wendy and Survivor Stories. She interviews Wilbur for the latter, and he thanks her profusely for saving his life.

I'm so glad that after the breakneck action of the last 6 weeks they're doing a recap. Can we get more of his shower playlist for the rest of the week?

Whew! Good to see that Wilbur's out of the woods/back from the edge. Even his stubble seems a little less seedy-looking. Good job, Nance, with your skillful use of the bolded"Hank Williams" in today's haiku title.

I'm disappointed. After Mary's tummy brain told her Wilbur was at Lookout Point, I hoped she would rescue him by swinging on a vine. I console myself with memories of the Olive-saving swan dive.

Wilbur's phrasing is quite troubling. What exactly was he expecting to achieve by listlessly warbling Country/Western standards in the shower all day?

The fact that he casts the blame for his near terminal angst on the inadequacy of Hank Williams' loneliest hits rather than his own pathetic behavior suggest it wasn't going to work in any case.

If only Wilbur had had extra batteries on hand. By the way, Did you ever see a robin weep? Cheers me up every time.

Does not compute! Mary not talking! DOES NOT COMPUTE! ... MALFUNCTION! MALFUNCTION!

@LouiseF--Thank you. This whole "storyline" is just so creepy and off-putting in So Many Ways. I don't think it's flattering to anyone...or anything.

Whew! I'm glad Wilbur's standing tall, once again! That really took a toll on my nerves!

On the official Mary Worth website, Karen Moy wrote, "Wilbur's in a dark place. Will he see the light?" I guess we know the answer now!

Wilbur, it's time to hop on a plane and win Fabiana back!

@Maxwell Bacon: I'm glad to see that KM is using the platitude-generating robot on the Mary Worth website.

Wow, I can't believe that singing Hank Williams in the shower didn't solve Wilbur's problems! I know that any time I'm facing a crisis--losing my job, electronics not working, footwear in bad shape, plague of locusts, whatever--I spend endless amounts of time singing Hank Williams in the shower, and everything is magically resolved! He must not have been listening to the right songs.

I really want Mary to tell Wilbur to suck it up and stop being such a baby. Well, actually, what I really want is just a teeny little earthquake, but that's probably not happening. Ooh! It could just be a little one, and Mary starts to fall but grabs onto a plant or something, and then Wilbur had to decide whether to save her, or just join her in going over the cliff! That would be exciting and, therefore, would never happen.

Meanwhile, in my alternate Mary Worth timeline, I'm just starting the Fabiana story. I'm so excited! I've heard so much about her.

I mean, as excited as one can be reading Mary Worth.

If Wilbur jumps or slips, maybe Evil Entertainer Esme will swoop in and save him.

Hi, y'all. I don't visit the comments section often, but today, I felt like sharing. I'm a long-time fan of this blog, but life's been hectic lately, and I haven't had the time to check in on the antics of Wilbur and Mary in a few weeks. So it was with a sense of relief that I loaded the page, to find Wilbur still sitting on the cliff side, moping about how he sabotaged his own relationships. I would just like to thank Moy and Giella for keeping the story on hold for me, and giving me the chance to catch up.

That said, I think it's okay if they wrap things up, now.

Thomas how long has it been since you last visited? Uncle Joe hasn’t done the strip in over a year. But I can’t blame you because at the pace the story is going it seems like Uncle Joe left last week.

Ack! You're right, Regina. I forgot he had retired. I knew the art looked different, but honestly forgot why.
