2019 Worthy Award nomination for "Best Libby the Cat Impersonation."
Meanwhile, playing on the juke box.... Old teacher the subject Of College fantasy She wants A’s so badly Knows what she wants to be Poor Michael, there's no room She hasn’t read a page Book marking she's so close now This girl is 1/10th his age!
Don’t stand so, don’t stand so, don’t stand so close to me!
She thinks that winking at him will replace her assignment? I agree, Wanders, she is putting much more effort in NOT doing the assignment that the assignment is really worth.
I also exclaimed "Panel of the Year contender!" when I saw p. 2. I also thought that Jannie strongly reminds me of Mary Richards in 1970, when flips were in style, except Mary would never have winked at Mr. Grant.
Okay, so presumably Jannie will melt down when Cameron gives her an F. Then she'll get on social media and accuse him of sexual or some other kind of misconduct. Then the Twitter mob will demand that he be fired. The Santa Royale Weekly Shopper will join the chorus, and the administration will cave and fire him without so much as a hearing. Because that's where we're headed folks.
This panel reminds me of the ongoing feature in People Magazine (I only read it at the hairdresser's I swear!) called "Who Wore it Better" which features two actors I've never heard of wearing the same dress. Jannie would have been in contention had she only remembered to circle her closed eye with black eyeliner.
The fact that she's putting more effort into sucking up to Ian than doing the assignment reminds me of a student I had.
She was a good student, but did once send me a ridiculously long Email asking for an extension on an assignment. She wasn't sick or dealing with an emergency - she was just busy. The Email was impressive and practically contained her life story. My thought was if she spent the equivalent time doing the assignment, she may have got it in on time.
I gave her the extension, because I am a pushover. I think the students can sense it. Last semester, I taught a very small class, and had the whole class come at once to my office to ask for an extension on an essay, for no particular reason other than that they were busy.
So, Jannie thinks that because she's been flattering Ian so much, they now have some sort of unspoken agreement that she doesn't need to do her homework? No wonder she doesn't want to do the assignment. She is an idiot.
But you guys, on the other hand...brilliant! So many great things. RobC's lyrics, the BFH, and the comment by Anonymous at 12:59...
Poor Ian. I would not want to admit to that nasty woman he's married to that she was right all along. Of course, Mary will serve them some kelk muffins and Toby will see the error of her ways and blah blah blah.
I agree, panel 2 is definitely a Worthy Awards contender...and now every time I see Jannie or Ian, I'm going to flash back to Monty Python's infamous "wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more" sketch.

LOL thanks RobC for the laugh of the day.
I hope tomorrow Ian says "Jannie, you have something inn you eye? Would you like hanky to get it out?"
Jannie is so subtle. (Not.)
I think this panel qualifies for this year's Worthy awards.
Why would the human waste a wink on Dr Zaius?
Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Thankfully, Ian Is Well-Prepared For This Exigency By Session Four Of Teaching Seminar".
Where's assignment?
;-]
Ian's next speech bubble should be:
"Jannie? Are you drunk?"
I think Jannie is having a stroke or something.
This is definitely a Worth awards contender!

Oh Wanders, you made me spit out my coffee. I wonder if Mary will give Jannie to a crusty, lonely old neighbor?
(Uh, and is it Janny? Janey? Jan-nie? honest to God...)

I liked Wander's line that the one eyed look was cute on Libby but not on Jannie.
Jannie is an idiot. (I actually thought at first that Toby had it wrong and that Jannie had a crush on Ian)
Michael should have given up ages ago. I don't get that. But then this is a comic strip and not real life.
I just want to know what the damn assignment was!
Actually Ian will be the one crushed when he finds out Jannie was just playing him - and Ian just may explode when Toby says, "I TOLD YOU SO!"
So, Jannie thinks that because she's been flattering Ian so much, they now have some sort of unspoken agreement that she doesn't need to do her homework? No wonder she doesn't want to do the assignment. She is an idiot.

@Imjb1964--Thank you.
@Anonymous 12:59--It was The Big Assignment. Please see MW Strip of 17 January to refresh your memory.
