Sounds like a victory lap to me, so are we done with this extended-PSA storyline? I think so, but we’re not done with Wilbur and Estelle. Wilbur, sad to say, is a core character and will be with us forever. They will limp along as a pallid nothingburger couple (despite Wilbur’s penchant for everything burgers), never marrying, sometimes showing up at infrequent pool parties and holiday celebrations.
Say, maybe Estelle can be the hostess this Thanksgiving. I eagerly anticipate her falafel-stuffed turkey.
You're in excellent form today, Wanders - your comment and secret message are zingers.
When Toby says "Wilbur could use a new friend," she means "Other than me, of course."
Picking up where @fauxprof left off, imagine Thanksgiving, when Dawn meets her new stepmother, Estelle, introduces Wilbur to his grandchildren, Giuseppe and Veronica, and tells Wilbur that she and the bambini are moving in.
Arthur had a severe receding hairline, as does Wilbur. Arthur was paucnhy, as is Wilbur. Arthur liked fine dining, as does Wilbur. Arthur trolled Silverdaters, as does Wilbur...
Coinkydink? Estelle definitely has a pattern.
A friend of mine got a divorce and soon after was in a new relationship with the same type of person she left.
This story line is less of schadenfreude and more of a train wreck!
Well we're back to Toby and Mary doing what they do best: gossiping about others. Do they talk about anything other than what's going on in other people's lives? Do they exchange muffin recipes? Go to the movies? Join Harlan Jones in yoga? They seem to have very vapid lives.
As for Estelle and Wilbur: If Mary thinks that Estelle went through a lot with Arthur/er, wait'll she has to deal with Wilbur: Excessive showering, a huge grocery bill, disappearing for months at a time and handing over his column to her. Also, don't break up with him. He'll be stalking you behind some bushes making assumptions about your newest boyfriend does for a living (like he assumed Zak was selling drugs because he had a nice car).
I still don't understand Wilbur's allure that he can get reasonably decently drawn women. I imagine him with someone that looks like a female Arthur/er.
Saturday The only explanation for why those constantly deluged flowers don't die is that they're fake. Mr. Alora gave Mary her own "garden space" to get her out of his hair and his way. Confining the vapid Toby there is a bonus.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Wait; Is It SilverDaters Or SilverFriends?".
Sure?
Yes. Wilbur Estelle date!
Wonderful! New friend.
Especially Arthur.

Do Willie and Stella know yet that they each live at Charterstone? This hasn't been made clear, and it is kind of, sort of important. Kind of.
If not, then it should be kind of, sort of interesting when they find out. If so, it must have been kind of, sort of interesting when they found out.
You'd think Moy would have wanted to cover this base and not leaving us hanging. Sort of.

P.S. I miss the giant hamburger. That could be a panel of the year finalist.
Plot twist: Arthur is Wilbur's Mr. Hyde personality.
This relationship will last until the next Charterstone pool party. Wilbur's speedo could chase the stars from the eyes of an astronomer.

In panel one, Toby is sitting at a table.
There is no glass on it.
There is no glass in her hand.
Something is very wrong at Charterstone.

A new friend?
I’d say that was being awfully generous, but it’s Toby talking here.
Toby looks very hung over in panel one, like she passed out on the patio last night and slept there, only to be woken by Mary's watering can.
Why doesn't Mary use the garden hose? Does she get her workout by running back to her kitchen sink to fill the watering can 45 times a day?

Mary keeps talking about Arthur as if that were his real name.
There's filler and then there's today's strip, which takes filler to a whole new dimension.
