Okay, I’m guessing this guy will tell her about the family he left behind in a civil war somewhere who he’ll never see again, and Dawn will be comforted that she still has her Dad in her life and we can then move on. Please, let us love on.

Jeez, Dawn, he didn't die, he just dumped you. Let's try to hold it together here. At least until you get home. Then you can come sobbing at Mary's door, much to her delight.

P.S. Is "Leavin' on a Jet Plane" a little too much of a stretch for the juke?
Oh, she's crying? I thought that was an epithet describing Hugo. In any case, the approaching lad with the horrible burn scars on his face will soon be there to console her. "You think you've been burned in a relationship? With me it was literal!"
I think Dawn should call Wilbur in Mozambique (I think that's where he is...this story has dragged on so long that I can't remember where in the world Wilbur San Diego is) and get Dr. Sweater Vest's number. I've had food in my refrigerator that lasted longer than this relationship. Unlike Wilbur, I think Dawn is going to need more than one visit.
I'd like to think the fellow with the scars is the singer Seal and he will be consoling Dawn by singing "A Kiss by a Rose". If he's smart, he'll keep walking. "Move along, nothing to see here."
The guy has facial tattoos. He's going to cheer Dawn up with a Maori Haka. It will turn into a flashmob Haka and be seen all over the world. Except France.
Does anyone else have a huge blank section in the middle of this page, right after Garnet's comment? Weird.
What does Dawn see in Hugo? Well, he has the accent. He's good looking, and he has, on occasion, ridiculously buff arms. He's able to carry on serious conversations while standing chest-high in the ocean, he has experience in house-painting, and he helps keep her grounded by reminding her that, whatever she can show him, he's seen a better version in France. What's not to love?
I was hoping that the guy is actually one of the survivors that Wilbur interviewed and when he finds out who Dawn's father is he also gets on a plane to Paris.

Oh, please let him say “Are you ok?” Reminds me of Nola Wolvenson and the compassionate homeless guy.
Updated Happy Hobo approaching! “Are you O.K.?” “SOB!!!!!!!!!!”
Ah Dawn, with the emotional maturity of a bag of scrunchies.
@fauxprof - my exact thoughts!!!
I think Approaching Fellow is about to tell Dawn he dropped his keys, and she's sitting on them, which may be why she's sobbing.
Moy's goofy marks are screwing my HTML.
Today's Boldface Haiku is titled
"Dawn's First Self-Help Book: What To Expect At The Therapist".
(Sit down.
{Sob!})
@Chester the Dog--Superb comment today. I'm stealing it and using it as often as possible. (Just not on here.) OK?

At least she’s expressing her feelings out loud now, instead of just thinking them in French.
Let her have a good public cry, handsome stranger — she’ll pee less later.

I don't have much to say about the events of today's strip, but I do enjoy the composition of both panels.
