Mary Worth 3199

For a such a non-descript food item, it is so oddly and consistently specific. Mary washes it down with a highball. Dawn washes it down with a cone of rose water. So much to love about this panel except the words, which fill me with dread.

Straight gin in a tall frosted glass, the perfect beverage to wash down a nice square of...thing. Dawn gets a larger portion, because, good hostess manners?

The mystery food leaves me queasy, but not so much as the words “mon amour” and “video chat”.

Hey Dawn, it's late September and you really should be back in school.

Wanders, @fauxprof, and @Scottie McW., you've all nailed it. Just what we don't want - a Weston father-daughter reunion. When Dawn tells Wilbur about "mon amour" Hugo, maybe Wilbur will counter with "That's nothing! I never told you about mi amor Fabiana, who was muy caliente!"

Mary couldn't wait to change the subject. "Now...on to a different topic, thank God, because I was sick of your blathering...."

Even Mary is tired of hearing about Hugo. I like her "Now, on to a different topic", which means "ugh, enough already about this guy that's going to ghost you."

Like everybody before me, I thought "Oh no, not another Wilbur story." I don't know about anyone else, but I hate Wilbur. Fat, slovenly, that #$!@ combover and he's a mayonnaise eating freak. He has no redeeming values (just like everyone else in Mary's world), so why does KM keep springing this loser on the readers. Is Wilbur going to bring some statuesque beauty from Mozambique home with him and tell Estelle they're through?

On the flip side, I can't wait for Hugo to see Wilbur on the videochat. He will day "Mon Dieu, is that your father? After that exchange, he'll definitely be ghosting her.

I was thinking the brown glop was tiramisu, but Mary's not that creative.

Meeting someone on video chat is one of the most awkward experiences ever. Meeting Wilbur on video chat would be super-awkward.

I wonder what they are eating? It looks like square pancakes stacked on top of each other.

French toast. That's what Mary and Dawn have been eating. Mary thinks it's a cultural tribute to Dawn's new amour.

Mary: BTW, Dawn, what happened to your nose, it's all red and swollen?
Dawn: Oh, I was sniffing the brose!
Mary: Dear, dear, dear, there's no 'b' in rose...
Dawn: There was in that one!
