Saul speaks for all.

Well said, Wanders. We're in for a minimum of two weeks of ridiculous over-the-top bratty behavior before KM finally figures we get the point. Then at some time far in the future, we'll see Saul finally attempt to do something about it.

But let's give credit where it's due. That panel showing a startled Greta jumping up off the bed is spectacular. Well done, June.

Saul, you can ditch the bow tie too.

I just remembered an old sitcom called “Bachelor Father,” about a wealthy attorney who takes on the responsibility of raising his teenage niece after her parents are killed in a car accident. Saul is far from a suave man about town, but I’m sure we’ll all be in hysterics over the hijinks that ensue as Saul, Madi, and Greta bond together. Happy Father’s Day, Saul! (A big Happy Father’s Day to Wanders as well, but not to Lyle.)

Did Saul get a personality transplant? At what point between 2017 or whenever it was we last saw him and the present did he transform from a fearsome old grouch, who would have been more than a match for some pink-haired smartphone-wielding teenybopper, to this timid "here's-the-spare-room-please-enjoy-your-stay" doormat, who clearly couldn't say "bo" to an even moderately self-assertive goose? I don't get it.

Scottie, you left out the crucial intervening stage in the plot where Saul spends two weeks (in _Mary Worth_, as in _The Magic Mountain_, two weeks is the smallest meaningful unit of time) telling Mary about his Madi woes, and Mary bucks him up with a long series of speech balloons and quotations expressing a great deal of nothing. Only when the requisite amount of nothing has been said can anyone proceed to anything resembling action.

@Little Nell, you’re not the only one perplexed by Saul’s transformation from crusty old coot to Mr. Milquetoast. I’m guessing KM either forgot his previous persona or is implying that Bella’s death and the subsequent introduction of Greta melted his cold, cold heart. Kind of like the Grinch’s heart growing after his encounter with the citizens of Whoville, possibly. KM never met a plot she wouldn’t borrow and/or steal.

Everyone, have you considered the possibility that KM is introducing us to another interesting facet of Saul's complex personality? Rather than forgetting what he was like a few years ago, she may just be building upon the original Saul, slowly letting us really get to know him.

Thoughts?

Mary took crabby, grieving Saul, on pretense of needing new tires, to the Animal Shelter, where he found Greta. So maybe she can take crabby, grieving Mad!, on pretense of .... reasons ... to the Granny Shelter, where she'll adopt a new Granny. And they all live boringly ever after. Wearing bow ties. The end.

Vince: Interesting? Complex? We're talking about Karen Moy's "work" here.

So, since there's been a profound change in Saul's behavior since meeting Greta, does this mean we can expect HIM to start sniffing visitors? I hope so!
