We missed the comedy of seeing how the heck Greta got up on that bed.

Boy, Madi’s really wrapped up in that sheet. All Greta has to do is clamp onto that sheet, jump off the bed, dash to the opposite side of the room, and maintain a giant yank. Madi will spin like Cleopatra rolling out of Julius Caesar’s rug. I bet June would love to draw that!
SUNDAY HelenClark, you’re not the only one who was made queasy by today’s penultimate panel. Bleah.
Included in the obits in my local newspaper today (The Plain Dealer) is one with a photo of a lovely woman holding an adorable dachshund. June does fine work with horses, but her dachshund drawing needs an upgrade. Greta is creepy, not adorable.
It's true that Greta may not be as cute and heartbreaking as some little four-legger you might meet at, say, City Dogs Cleveland, but generations of artificial selection can really do a number on you, and, despite KM's cluelessness about human interaction, Greta's behavior in today's strip is borderline--and I put a stress on borderline--realistic.
Also, tears are not even close to being among the top 100 contenders for the grossest-thing-a-dog-has-ever-eaten award.
My sister adopted a mixed-collie-shepherd-something some years ago. Lucy had been abused and would have nothing to do with men. She wasn't crazy about me, but she would allow me to pet her. Early the next morning I received word that two of my sons (!!) had been arrested and were in jails in different counties. We spent most of the night talking to bail bondsmen and arranging for a flight back home. That dog never left my side. She clung to me like velcro until we walked out the door. True story.
@Kit Kat: Your first comment put me in mind of the scene in "A Charlie Brown Christmas," wherein Snoopy gets Linus wrapped up in his (Linus's) blanket and sends him flying. And glad to know the PD still has subscribers (print or otherwise)!

Lucky for Greta she didn't get her bow tie stuck on the bottom of the bed when she jumped up. That could have made for a truly tragic scene.

SUNDAY: Yeah, no kidding... "Cry, Madi, cry! Allow Greta to feed on your sorrows!"
In other news, I don't know who Richard Crais is, but he sure knows how to talk smack to dog lovers.

One more thing: fauxprof, where have you been?
@Vince. Thanks for asking. I’m still here, but my funny is a little blunted. I’ll snap out of it, trust me!
Thanks for checking in, fauxprof. We look forward to your snapping out.

Vince, you are correct. And my own two dogs have happily sampled each and every one of them!
