Wanders, your memory and your archives are matchless! Did June take an extended Labor Day vacation?
We don’t know if Wilbur still has the great job, beautiful apartment, and wonderful daughter, but considering how he eats, his health may be on the downside.
Looks like we're in for a full week of Pudgy Huff-n-Puff muttering to himself.
I wonder if he'll chance upon a much older couple also taking a walk and ruminate, "I'll bet she never chose a stupid cat over a wonderful, charming man!"
Well, slap my head with Hellman’s and call me Wilbur, I think I’ve figured this out!
In the next day or two, Wilbur will come upon a helpless, orphaned kitten in some dire predicament. He will risk life and limb to rescue this kitten and then bring it to Estelle as a peace offering and playmate for lonely Libby. They will fall into each others arms and start singing some sappy song – ‘Tea for Two’ is my guess. And, once again, all will be well in the Worthiverse and hopefully we can move on to something more interesting.
And we have another dedication going out to Wilbur from the gang at MW and Me -- an oldie from the Walker Brothers entitled, "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore."
My guess is that Wilbur will find new hobbies to entertain himself during his new downtime. Like buying and learning the crossbow. "Whatever for?" Estelle asks. Wilbur doesn't answer. He simply ... waits.
@Vince-LOL and perfect!!! @HelenClark, once again, you have nailed the plot in a lot less time than we all will have to endure before this story is over.
By my count, Wilbur has been dumped now four times. Wonder how many more he has in him. Perhaps he is the standard metaphor used by KM for the hapless, thoughtless, schlemiels who only get forgiven for their bumbling in order to bring them back with a (not all that)new plot.
This is one the things that bug me about the Worthverse. We're supposed to believe this nitwit with the EQ of one of the dumber forms of rock writes a successful advice column.
Com'on friends! You can't tell me that I'm the only one who's been losing sleep over this! Finally, we get our answer to the burning question: Who is shorter? Wilbur or Saul?

The sun/moon is missing from the most recent panel. I clearly have too much time this morning.

I honestly wonder if KM realizes just how unsympathetic and repulsive Wilbur is. Does she intend him to be so nasty?
MDMaryTed, I also noticed the missing sun. Ain't no sunshine when she's gone. Very symbolic.
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
In panel two, the sun is out and the man who’ll die alone has no spine.

Dogs are good!
Looks like Wilbur is going to get schooled on the value of dogs. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, happy day!
HelenClark
The only thing that would’ve made me recoil more would have been Saul AND Eve approaching .
@HelenClark, I’m thinking Saul is shorter than Wilbur, although his crew cut vs. Wilbur’s bald pate and wispy strands might make it a draw.
