Mary Worth 3863

Oh, he will. He will. Of course he will. Why would he ever trust his own wife, when he can trust Helen Moss instead?

Poor, poor Toby. She needs both career and marital advice. This calls for a two-dozen-muffin consultation with Mary, including tiny plates. Time is of the essence!

If Toby runs into (literally) the “#&@§!” pickup driver on her way home, Mary will need to deploy her Mammoth Meddle Muffin Package.

Of course I'll believe the accusations! I mean ordinarily I wouldn't, but if they've Reached School Management, what choice do I have?

When faced with a knotty (naughty?) problem like this, we've learned that Cal's go-to solution would be to ignore it. Toby's solution would be to ruminate in frantic uselessness and drive recklessly then drink a lot, then ignore it. Say what you will about Mary, she has never been one to ignore any opportunity for a juicy meddle.

It’s hard to disbelieve a person who seems as impartial, level-headed, unbiased and trustworthy as Helen Moss.

Toby, you see the kid, turn the other way and run!

Toby's life has become a large negative space.

Before appealing to school management and recommending that Helen enter anger management, Toby needs some crisis management from the ultimate management management manager herself.

Scottie, though it is not related to our storyline, your sentence, and its deft and frequent deployment of the word "management," reminds me of the Buffalo sentence. Buffalo, N.Y., and, I suppose, any other places named Buffalo are the only cities whose name, repeated seven times in a sentence with no other words, will result in a legitimate sentence: "Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo." I believe this was discovered by a student at the University at Buffalo a few years ago. The capitalization is important to understanding the sentence.

@Vince -- Ha haaaaa, nice! I worked on it and I think I got it to make sense.

Vince-
When I took Grammar and Usage in college we had to diagram that sentence. There is an implied "that" necessary to properly diagram it.
Thanks for the memories of the torture endured in that class.

I don't think Toby is too bright.

Every professor gets students who are always at their office hours, seeking extra help or whatever. I teach at a college, and the physics professor's office is next to mine. Physics is difficult and there's a student who is frequently there getting help with assignments. No one is going to fire that professor over that. I can hear that they are just discussing physics. Some friendly students will also talk to their professors after class. I've had ones that follow me back to my office and chat with me on the way. No one cares.

Most large workplaces also have a miserable busybody who people know not to take seriously.

Now, Toby shouldn't have said that she's befriending students. That was plain dumb.
