This is the sweetest strip ever. Just the thought of the Bum Boat in panel 1 makes Jeff Corey's head swell up like a marshmallow in a microwave.

Drew feels bad about the whole thing of course. Not really bad, but certainly bad enough to have learned his lesson Once and For All. Knowing he'll spend the evening watching his dad make googly eyes at his 60-year-old girl friend over watery plates of steamers and scallops seems to put Drew Corey's priorities back in order. As it would for any of us.

Very nice meddle, Mary, but I'm not sure I like the guilty look on Dr. Jeff's face as he listens to Mary Worth lecture his son on the perils of perfidy. I hope, hope, hope that Dr. Jeff isn't carrying some forbidden secret from his trip last year to Cambodia. But, Jeff, if something did happen, please confess your sin to Mary now; don't let her find out the way Dawn found out about Drew and Vera and the smallish horses. Oh, I'm going to worry about this for days.

Meanwhile, back at Dr. Jeff Corey's suburban log cabin...

So, Drew shows up at his father's house again (where he may live and where Mary Worth certainly does not live) and invites Mary to Meddle. But before she does any meddling, she asks Drew to retell the whole story. This will be great! We get the entire story again, but this time from Drew's misogynistic perspective: He'll be the charming, irresistible doctor; the women will be the lonely, quaint little ladies dependent on his manly approval.

Wait a minute, that's how it was portrayed the first time... right up until that slap when Drew got some sense knocked into him. Still, I'm completely up for a three-month retelling of the last three months, so thank you for asking Mary!

Here is what concerns me about today's installment: Dawn's parting line is awesome. It totally destroys any hope of Dr. Drew Corey having any chance with Vera Shields... for NOW. However, it's been a long time since Mary Worth did any meddling. So meddling we shall have. If Mary helps Dawn plot her revenge, then great. If she spends the next decade of her life retraining Drew to behave like a human being so he can somehow win back Vera's heart (and qualify as Mary's potential son-in-law - like that'll ever happen), then that could go on for a while.

She hasn't shed a tear yet! Dawn Weston, after all that "something to love, something to hope for" business, I had no idea you had this much strength. It's like some sort of phermone. Even the stable boy has wandered over just to get your number.

As much as I hate to admit it after three months of anticipation, this is so awesomely satisfying. You GO girl! Everything about today's strip is simply succulent. Dawn Weston doesn't hold back. She's impassioned. She names Drew Corey's crimes right in front of Vera Shields, and then she hammers him with a viscious and long-time-coming "SLAP!"

It's a good thing Drew and Vera came in different cars, or something tells me, he'd be walking home. That is, if he can still walk when Dawn is through smacking him. I'd like to see a few more days of Dawn slapping Drew. Followed by a few days of Vera Shields punching Drew. And then, just to make it really gratifying on Sunday, the horses start to kick Dr. Drew Corey back and forth in the air between them before launching him over the stable.

And thus it begins.

Judging by her grip, it looks like Dawn's weapon of choice will be a knife. Just wait until she finds out Mary Worth knew about this all along.
