Careful, Greta... don't let the door squeak... Delicious shoes are sitting right by the closet. Quiet... quiet...

Today's strip broke my heart. I thought of the many children who have lost grandparents to coronavirus and other illnesses this year. I thought of my own grandparents, one of whom died so young I have no memory of her. I thought of my mother-in-law who lost her battle to cancer at 55, when my wife was pregnant with our third child. I showed a video tape to my oldest daughter just last week of when she was one year old playing with her grandmother, and my daughter cried.

So forgive me for tearing up at today's strip. Of course, my tears were more saline than dairy, but still.

I don't know what he's cooking, but we're eating it for a week. I haven't seen Greta for a while... No, it couldn't be.

My nephew works at a camp where parents send their troubled kids. Maybe Mary could volunteer at a place like that. Those kids would keep their shoes off the couch forever.

And there you have it folks. This train arrived sooner than expected, but I'm getting off at the station. I was on Team Madi from day one, but Mary has successfully baptized her in the Charterstone Pool of Intervention, and she will never be the same. I did not expect Madi to go so suddenly.

When I saw this, I thought about Mary's physical ability to perform this feat, and remembered her diving into the pool at midnight to save Olive Taylor. So I did a little Google search and found this lovely video. Have a wonderful weekend.

After yesterday's psychologically abusive strip, I have only one explanation for today's strip...:

...Stockholm Syndroome.

I'm having trouble with the Blogger app today. No joke, it is not allowing me to upload today's panel. However, it is letting me post previously uploaded artwork. Turns out that isn't such a problem today.

Okay, it's working now. I was dealing with the tech problem for a while, but five minutes after I posted the old panel, it started working again.

My original post was simply going to say, "Madi speaks for us all." One of the reasons I like her so much.

Indeed she does. After Greta's owner died, she was carted off to a cage at a shelter and then handed over to Saul Wynter whom she will also outlive. See how much you and Greta have in common, Madi? You're really no better off than a rescue dog.

You think??? She was only dumped off at an 80-year-old stranger's apartment at a retirement community for the entire summer by her dad after her Gram - the only person whom she enjoyed - died. She has no friends her own age, and there is a dog that she's afraid of in her bedroom chewing on her clothes. And apparently, no one can seem to figure out why she might be ANGRY!! Charterstone is full of dopes.
