Timing is everything. It will happen when it's supposed to. So.... make sure your timing is perfect, but sit around and don't do anything and it will happen on its own. Is she talking about the cobbler oozing out of her aluminum foil wrap? Because she's wrapped up an aweful lot of gooey cobbler in foil. Okay, I am going to accept that in Santa Royale, cobber can be purchased in a grocery store, and wrapped up in aluminum foil. What I am not going to accept is that Tommy and Brandy are better than before (p.4). In what way? They haven't changed one single bit. I'm sorry, but how have they improved? We are exactly where we started from when Tommy promised he was going to find a better way to make a living. Nothing has happened since September!

Wanders, what do mean, nothing has happened since September? Tommy changed his shirt, didn't he?
How can Freda sell the "best" smoked salmon unless she's smoking it and packaging it herself? Well, I suppose she might as well. She's gotta be out back anyway, waiting for her cobbler to come out of the oven.

I took my daughters to a Girl Scout event featuring Sally Ride. She talked about how she studied and learned, worked and prepared so that she would be ready for opportunities. When there was an opening in the NASA astronaut program she was completely qualified for the job.
Tommy, you are undoubtedly on this same path. You've got a bright future, young man. Senior Grocery Store Display Supervisory Assistant Manager for the Far West Regional Zone 2 Small Grocery Store Association is not an unrealistic goal. Reach for the stars, just like Sally!
All that enthusiasm about things homemade yesterday (and mentioned again today in the narration box) put me in mind of an old song that's probably not suitable for the C-Stone jukebox, namely the Fugs' "I Feel Like a Homemade S**t." I would also like to point out that Mary has never looked more pleased with herself than in that 3rd from last panel.
Mary, FGS, you’re 140 years old! Surely you have an old plate (souvenir St. Louis Worlds Fair 1904, maybe, or Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, or even a Dollar Store 2 for 1 special) to put two juicy, runny slices of cobbler on. That makeshift foil bundle is going to stain Tommy’s nice new shirt and dribble all the way down the hall of stately Charterstone Condo. Although the cobbler looks like a slab of granite...
Why is Mary giving Tommy a gigantic ice cube? He must have an enormous glass for Scotch on the rocks. Or maybe he's bring the cube to Wilbur.
I read the opening quotation from (of all people!) Oscar Wilde and immediately thought, “This explains why Jeff will always be second in his relationship with Mary.” Mary might add, “First things first, and timing is everything, as long as your timing’s not off.”
How many pieces of glutinous cobbler did Mary stack to make a package that size? I bet that cobbler weighs a ton. Tommy better use both hands to carry it, which will present a problem when he tries to open a door.
Great comments by all of you today, friends!
Wanders, I'll venture that Tommy and Babe are better than before because Mary has entered their relationship. Everything is better after a MaryMeddle!
